India’s Under-19 team celebrates after winning the ICC U19 World Cup 2026 final

India’s young cricket team created history by winning the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2026 after defeating England by 100 runs in the final on Friday. The title match was played in Harare, where India dominated the game from start to finish.

With this win, India lifted the Under-19 World Cup trophy for the sixth time, extending their record as the most successful team in the tournament’s history. It was also India’s tenth appearance in a World Cup final, showing their strong presence at the youth level.

India Post Massive Total

After winning the toss, India chose to bat first and delivered a powerful batting performance. The highlight of the final was an unforgettable innings by Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who stunned everyone with his fearless batting.

The 14-year-old scored a remarkable 175 runs off just 80 balls, hitting 15 fours and 15 sixes. His knock became the highest individual score in an Under-19 World Cup final, putting India in a commanding position.

Captain Ayush Mhatre supported well with a steady 53 runs. Abhignan Kundu (40), Kanshik Chauhan (37), Trivedi (32), and Vihan Malhotra (30) also made useful contributions. Thanks to this strong team effort, India posted a huge total of 412 runs.


England Fall Short in the Chase

Chasing 413 runs, England needed a strong start but struggled to keep up with the required run rate. Although they reached 171 for 3 at one stage, wickets started falling regularly, slowing their chase.

Caleb Falconer played a fighting innings and scored 115 runs, refusing to give up despite the pressure. Ben Dawkins added 66 runs, and Thomas Rew scored 31, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to support Falconer.

England were eventually bowled out for 311 runs in 40.2 overs, falling well short of the target.


Bowlers Seal the Win

India’s bowlers delivered a disciplined performance to complete the victory. RS Ambrish took three wickets, while Kanshik Chauhan and Deepesh Devendran picked up two wickets each. Their consistent bowling ensured England never threatened the target.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi was named Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament for his outstanding performance in the final and throughout the competition.
