TG: The counting process for the Telangana municipal elections has officially begun, bringing an end to days of political suspense across the state. The counting started at 8:00 AM under strict security arrangements and election guidelines.

Results for 7 municipal corporations and 116 municipalities are expected to be announced today. Political parties, candidates, and supporters are eagerly waiting for the final outcome.
How the Counting Process Is Being Conducted
The counting procedure follows a structured and transparent system.
First, postal ballot votes are counted. After that, regular ballot votes are taken up for counting ward-wise.
Each wardβs ballot boxes are brought to designated counting tables. The ballots are bundled in groups of 25 papers and placed into a drum to mix them before counting begins.
For every round:
- 1,000 ballot papers (40 bundles of 25 each) are allocated to a table.
- Votes are sorted candidate-wise into separate trays.
- Every 100 votes are tied into a bundle and recorded.
After each round is completed, officials record:
- Votes secured by each candidate
- NOTA votes
- Invalid votes
The results of each round are shown to the candidatesβ agents, and their signatures are collected for verification. This process is repeated until counting is completed.
Once counting concludes, winning candidates will receive official certificates. Elections for Municipal Chairpersons, Vice-Chairpersons, Mayors, and Deputy Mayors are scheduled for the 16th of this month.
Massive Security Across the State
Security arrangements are extensive to prevent any untoward incidents.
- Around 12,000 police personnel have been deployed.
- Armed forces and Quick Response Teams are stationed at counting centers.
- Prohibitory orders are in force near counting locations.
- Only candidates and authorized agents with valid ID cards are allowed inside.
Election officials have clearly stated that no one without proper identification will be permitted entry.
Telangana DGP Shivadhar Reddy is personally monitoring the entire process through webcasting from his office to ensure smooth and peaceful counting.
